the road

en route to dakar

this is the title of Mimi Mollica's photographic essay shot in Dakar, Senegal.
the photos themselves are amazing, they capture the transitory and disruptive moment
when the new motorway was being built.
please have a look at these photos if you want to see these paintings for what they are:

the fishes painting

the fishes small painting
has been made for mari
the original photo has some salt
on top of the fishes,
as they lay ready to go into the bbq
i had to remove the salt crust as it wouldn't
be too sweet for the child.

starting from many years ago

i have always liked drawing and painting
and i now find that it is a way for me to relax
and express my self in other way than words.
my latest paintings (mini) are mainly based on photographs
and they are apart of a project i am doing with my brother,
a photographer.
we work together. he takes the pictures, i paint them,
giving them another dimension.
the originality of the image is in the photograph as it capture
the moment in that particular frame of time and space.
however the re-production of the photograph stops it, and
at the same time it diminishes it and elevates it.....
if you know what i mean
i have posted some images from the series in my other blog
but i will now keep them in this separate space
je suis 'artiste!
